Halloween & Pumpkins

Now that the foliage upstate turns vibrant red and yellow (see Rijk's post), the air smells like Fall and it's actually chilly and cold, you can't help but think of Halloween, which is October 31st. The weeks before Halloween you can't miss all things pumpkin, orange, spooky and as with many traditions: the matching food and treats.
Last week I visited a Fall Fest upstate with some friends and they had a huge field full of pumpkins, live music, hot apple cider and a corn maze. One of my friends desperately wanted a slice of pumpkin pie, but we did not manage to score a slice. Today we're going to make one ourselves since we're inspired by the festival, the fall weather and Halloween decorations everywhere. If anybody is interested in baking a pumpkin pie this season or throwing a Halloween party, here's a useful link:

Some people take pumpkin carving to another level (scary and extreme):

And for a good laugh, thanks to Friends: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGZm9JRRZnY
Happy Halloween everybody!
